Sustainable tourism in Cyprus took centre stage on Friday, 25 September 2026, when the Annabelle team joined the Tourism Cares clean-up initiative for World Tourism Day, alongside colleagues from Almyra, Antasia and the Thanos Hotels & Resorts management team.
Caring for the Coast We Call Home
Paphos guests come to Annabelle for the sea, the sunsets and the natural beauty that surrounds the hotel. Protecting that setting is a shared responsibility, and Tourism Cares: Unite for a Cleaner Destination gives the island's hospitality community a way to act on it together.
Organised by the Cyprus Sustainable Tourism Initiative (CSTI) as part of its Keep our Sand and Sea Plastic Free programme, the initiative runs under the auspices of the Deputy Ministry of Tourism with the support of the Cyprus Hotel Association (PASYXE).
A Movement That Keeps Growing
Each year more people get involved. Participation rose from 60 businesses and organisations and over 1,650 people in 2024 to 75 businesses and organisations and over 2,250 people in 2025, with collected waste increasing from more than 1.5 tonnes to around 2.3 tonnes. Volunteers were also encouraged to swap single-use products for reusable gloves, containers and cups.
For our team, it is a natural extension of how we approach hospitality: caring for our guests also means caring for the places they come to enjoy.
